The Homestead Resort Wedding | Chelsea + Luke

The Homestead Resort - you sweet, magical, summertime escape you. When I first drove into this little oasis in the middle of the northern Michigan forest I was a little overwhelmed at how big it was - not the type of big that looms high into the sky, but it was like a community in and of itself, with restaurants and outdoor trails, a ski hill and multiple lodging venues.

A storm threatened to crash over the day, with lightning and dark clouds in the visible distance as the ceremony began. Though as some sort of wedding day miracle, it stayed in the distance, offering as the most dreamy backdrop. As guests rode the chairlift down the ski hill (oh yes, did I mention we were on top of the hill and that guests rode the chair lift to the ceremony and were greeted by donuts and cider?! Whew this day was so amazingly lovely I don’t even know how to write it all) - anyway, as guests made their way back down, the rain began to fall. We made our way indoors to the warm log covered lodge as the storm began to crash.

But as lovely as the entire day was, perhaps the most delightful was the end. The storm had dreamily passed by and we headed to the beach for last light portraits - a perfect streak of hot pink settled on the horizon. The street lamps turned on, and the air was sweetly warm. It all seemed like a dream, but it was real - it was Chelsea and Luke’s wedding day and it was perfect.
